Sirte: Ground Zero

Father we again lift up Sirte to you. This city has endured so much destruction and havoc and remains a contested battleground. It’s been recalled for its being the hometown of Muammar Gaddafi, the location of the beheading of Egyptian martyrs in 2015, and as an Islamic State stronghold. May it be remembered as the place where peace was achieved in Libya. May the talks that are happening now be successful and effective in making peace! We pray for the people of Sirte to know your salvation and to declare allegiance to Jesus Christ the King. Bless Sirte and make it a place of flourishing, in Jesus’ mighty name!

Unity in the Body

Lord we praise you for the unity that exists among the body of believers in Libya and for those who are laboring for more. We ask together with them for more! Father, please empower believers to overcome differences and unite as one in Christ, regardless of race, tribe, language, or any political, ideological, or theological disputes. May they be one as you are one.

Religious Leaders

Today, we pray for a shaking and awakening in the lives and hearts of religious leaders in Libya. Come to these men in dreams and visions, Jesus, and let there be a “Paul” among them who is completely transformed and becomes an apostolic leader of your church.

Daily Prayers

A Dad’s Salvation

A family of local believers have a father who is seriously ill and not yet believed. They are believing for an opportunity to share the truth with him and for him to see the light of Christ in this critical time.

Father, we lift up this man and intercede for his salvation! We pray he would turn fully and surrender to you. Let this illness lead to your Name being glorified in this family and in all of their community.

Flooding in Tripoli

(photo from a previous event)

This week a severe weather system has moved into the Mediterranean and is threatening northwest Libya with heavy rains and likely flash floods. Lord, we pray for protection for those living in the affected areas, that you would grant them wisdom in how they move. Help the emergency responders and especially those who are living in vulnerable places without decent shelter. Spread your arms over Libya once again, Lord Jesus.

Daily Prayers Verses

Be Glorified

“But when Jesus heard it he said, ‘This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.'” (John 11:4)

We thank you Father God that you are able to use pain, sickness and even death to bring you and your Son glory. We pray now for those who are sick in Libya to encounter your presence and experience your glory surrounding them. Thank you Jesus that you conquered death, and we pray for these ones to know you as the Resurrection and Life!

Senusi Bedouins

The Senusi Bedouins are a mystic Sufi sect within Islam whose religious orders have sent Muslim missionaries across North and Central Africa since 1837. The religious order began in Libya and has spread from Ethiopia to Nigeria.

O Lord of the Senusi Bedouin, have mercy on the more than 1/2 million souls held captive for milennia! May the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Cor 4) shine upon Senusi prisoners and set them free. Call out disciple makers. Bless the translation work being done in their dialect. Build Your church. May the gates of hell not prevail. In Jesus’s mighty name!

Daily Prayers

Maturing Believers

Lord God, thank you for all the believers who have been refined by the fire, for those who are maturing at all levels. Give each one a humble heart to submit to and serve others. Pour out wisdom and grace on them and bless them, in Jesus’s name!

Liberty to Captives

We proclaim liberty to the captives in every part of Libya! Thank you Jesus that through your blood shed on the cross, you purchased us and redeemed us from the curse of the law. Give Libyans an awareness of the spiritual bondage they are walking in and let them know the truth that will set them free!

Patience and Endurance

As a few of the new believers have been sharing their faith, they have encountered hard hearts leading to discouragement.
Father God, we ask that you would strengthen and encourage these new believers. Let there be a tenacious spirit in them that would not give up on sharing even when it seems like their friends aren’t listening. We thank you that you are patient with us and we pray that they also would see their friends through your eyes.

CPM Concept Daily Prayers

Culture Shakers

Mighty God, make our Libyan brothers and sisters into culture shakers, ambassadors from the upside-down kingdom! As they proclaim the gospel and advocate for justice and righteousness, may many be cut to the heart and repent.

Daily Prayers Verses

Set Your Minds

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died , and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:2-3) Help us Father and our brothers and sisters in Libya as well set our minds on things that are above remembering that we belong to you. Our lives are not our own but we are redeemed people. Let us keep our thoughts and our minds centered upon your Word.

Beautiful Benghazi

Lord Jesus, bless Benghazi today. May it be filled with righteousness and peace, and may justice flow like a river. Strengthen believers in Benghazi and empower them to reach their friends and family! May Benghazi flourish and be a blessing to Libya and the nations.

Daily Prayers

Peace?

Although both sides (western and eastern forces) have built up military forces around Sirte and Jufra, preparing for anything, a ceasefire has been holding and peace efforts are moving forward.

Thank you God for a pause in this most recent civil conflict. We pray in Jesus’ name for a complete end to the war, for lasting peace, and that all Libyans would have the chance to know you, the Prince of Peace.

Locals Encouraging One Another

Father God, thank you for some local believers who are meeting together for encouragement and to further your kingdom purposes. We pray that they may remain unified, one body, and that you would work in and through them to do your will.

Daily Prayers Verses

Good News for the Poor

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor…” (Isaiah 61:1a)

Lord God, we bring before you those in Libya who are poor both physically and spiritually and ask for them to receive the good news of salvation through Jesus! Thank you for your love and compassion for the poor. Give us your heart for them and let us not hold back from proclaiming the hope of the gospel to them!

Daily Prayers

Call for Ceasefire

Several days ago, the head of the Presidential Council, Serraj, announced an immediate ceasefire in the country and called for a demilitarization of the cities of Jufra and Sirte where conflict is brewing. Many such ceasefires have been called for in the past but not met with success.

Lord God, we cry out on behalf of the people of Libya and ask for mercy. Let there be a complete end to this conflict and we pray for both sides of the west and the east to lay down their weapons and their pride for the sake of restoring peace to this country.
