Daily Prayers Verses

Generations of Disciples

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure dwells in you as well.” (2 Timothy 1:5)

Lord God, we pray that in Libya there would be multiple generations of believers in families and we ask for grandparents and parents who will pass their faith onto their children through teaching them and modeling their faith.

Coastal Towns: Sirte

Almost halfway between Tripoli and Benghazi along the coast lies Sirte, known for its battles, ethnic groups, and loyalty to Gaddafi. In the last month it’s become the new frontline of the latest war and is currently held by the eastern forces.

Jesus, we pray for Sirte today, for its people who’ve suffered so much and yet persevere. Thank you for your children from Sirte. We pray for their strengthening, for all there to hear of you, and for your grace over the city as it’s likely to suffer more over the coming days .

Believers Encouraging One Another

Father, thank you for the believers who are meeting with or messaging one another, encouraging and spurring one another on. May they be one, as You are one!

Daily Prayers

Widows in Libya

Over the past 9 years, a growing number of widows are in Libya due to the heavy number of war casualties. Many of these women are younger with several children to care for.

Father, we lift up the widows in Libya today who are so valuable and known to you. We ask that they would come to know you as Father and enter into relationship with you through Jesus. Help the church in Libya to be obedient to your Word and know how to care for these widows who are in need.

Photo: Minesweeper

As the fighting in southern Tripoli has ceased, many displaced families are returning home, discovering that all of their remaining belongings have been stolen and their houses ransacked. Sadly, there are thousands of mines left over from the occupying troops, and already dozens of people returning have been killed. Today, lift up those clearing the mines and the families returning. Father, cover and protect them.

Daily Prayers

Turning Point in War

This past week, the GNA forces aligned with the UN-backed government took back control of the last major stronghold of the town of Tarhuna from General Haftar’s forces. It’s yet to be seen what exactly this means for the future, but in the time being, the capital is finally in a state of peace after 14 months and many displaced families are beginning to return to their homes.

Father, we ask that in this period of respite from war, people would actually recognize the lack of peace in their own hearts that can only be satisfied by surrendering to Jesus. Reveal to them by your Spirit that true peace and victory is only found in your Son.

Conspicuous and Beloved

Lord, may the beloved in Libya let their light shine today. Let their love for you be evident to everyone around them. May they take every opportunity to show others your love, that all might hear of and know you.

Daily Prayers Verses

Light of Glory

“For God who said ‘Let light shine out of darkness’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6)

We pray today this verse over the people of Libya let the light of the knowledge of your glory shine upon their hearts and let them see this light in the face of Jesus Christ!

Coastal Towns: Tawergha

Tawergha, 38 kilometers from Misrata, is the only coastal town in Libya with a black majority. Formerly the site of a bustling plantation worked by thousands of slaves (subsequently freed), today Tawergha is mostly deserted due to its support of Gaddafi and the subsequent persecution of its citizens and prevention from their return. Most Tawerghans have lived in refugee camps outside Tripoli for almost 10 years and have struggled to regain their former properties.

Father, we cry out for peace and reconciliation between these precious ones and those who have been their enemies. We pray for them to be able to return to their homes, and most of all we pray that they would know You, the good Father who sets the captives free, the one who died so that we could be reconciled, the friend who will wipe away every tear.

You Know What You’re Doing

Father, we praise you, for You know what you’re doing. You are always at work and we continually find evidence of your miraculous provision, wonderful works, and mighty acts. Thank You for the encouraging Word You speak. Today, be glorified in all the earth!

Daily Prayers

Human Trafficking

Over 600,000 migrants and refugees are currently in Libya either living in official centers or informal smuggling sites. Many of them are being exploited and countless numbers of them are abused and suffering from forced labor and violent mistreatment.

Father, we cry out today for the large migrant community in Libya asking for your mercy to be poured out upon them and for justice to be served to those who are exploiting them. Thank you God for fighting for these precious souls and protecting them from the evil one.

Daily Prayers Verses

From the Beginning

Did you know that on the day of Pentecost, one of the people groups represented were from Cyrene in Libya? “Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians–we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” (Acts 2:10-11)

Father, just as yesterday marked the Day of Pentecost, we ask for a fresh outpouring of your Spirit over Libya. Awaken hearts and let them once again hear in their language of your mighty works and believe in your Son!

Daily Prayers regions

Coastal Towns: Misrata

Misrata, Libya’s 3rd largest city, is well known for its large trade port, fierce militias, and Islamic ideology.

Father, we pray you’d break the stronghold the enemy has on Misrata. We pray that light would fill the darkness there. Empower secret believers to grow and to share with their families. Send laborers into the harvest and let your kingdom come in Misrata and spread from there to the rest of Libya.

Daily Prayers

New Songs of Worship

God, may you receive all the praise and glory due your Name from the Libyan people! Thank you for new songs written in Libyan Arabic and Tamazight that proclaim who you are and what you’ve done. May these songs bring you glory and may many more songs be written and sung in these languages for years to come, indeed for eternity!

Faith to Move Mountains

Let your church in Libya be of those who have faith to say to the mountains, “Move from here to there” and believe that they will move. Let your church in Libya be of those who ask in prayer believing they will receive that which they have asked for!

Growing Faith, Deepening Roots

Thank you Father for the believers in Libya who are growing in their hunger for the Word and turning to your Word when they face difficult loss. Thank you for answering our prayers for these disciples to grow in their personal devotion and deepening their roots as they put their trust in you.
