This week, a discovery Bible study app called Waha released three new languages including Libyan Arabic!! This is a powerful tool for disciple-makers to use in country with either seekers or new believers to study the Word together.

Father God, we thank you for this new development in the Waha app and we pray that many Libyans would have the opportunity to discover what the Bible says through this medium.

Healed Personalities

Father, we pray for all the precious Libyan believers. Please conform them more and more to the image of Your Son. Wherever they are still hurt or bitter, soften their hearts with Your love and mercy. Wherever they still live in sin, please bring them to repentance. And wherever they haven’t surrendered parts of their hearts and lives, bring them to the point of a loving, voluntary and joyful surrender to You.

Desperate for Freedom

Many young people feel trapped in their homes and hopeless about their future. Some are feeling desperate enough to leave their families and leave the country without telling them.

Lord God, we lift up these men and women who are longing for freedom and pray that they would discover true freedom is only found in your Son. In their search for meaning and purpose, we ask for revelation from your Spirit to be poured out.

A Faithful Libyan Bride

“It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance.” (Heb 6:4-6a)

Lord God, we pray that the Libyan bride would be faithful to you, that those who have once gone under the waters of baptism and died to their old selves, would persevere unto the end. We ask that their love would only grow stronger, and that as they come under attack, temptation, and adversity, you would strengthen them. Holy Spirit, may the flame of their love never grow cold, and may the faithfulness of the Libyan bride be a witness to the world of the transformative and redemptive power of your love.

Growing Confidence

It is exciting to hear of how some believers are growing more in their confidence to share their faith and as they share, they are sensing the power of the Spirit at work!

Holy Spirit, thank you for empowering each of the Libyan believers to speak boldly and share their faith with others. Let their trust and dependence on you continue to grow. Put the words in their mouths and through all that they say, let your name be glorified.

A Holy Libyan Bride

The Church is the bride of Christ, for which He died, to set her apart for himself. Lord Jesus, we pray for a pure, holy Libyan church that is set apart, distinct from the surrounding culture and marked by love and devotion to you. Whether many or few, let those who gather in your Name be wholly devoted to you and to one another, filled with joy and hopeful expectation.

Salt and Light

Just as Jesus spoke to his followers about being salt and light and stated, “In the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16).

Father, we thank you for your followers in Libya who are trying to be a light in the dark places. Let them not hide their light but let it shine so that others may glorify you!

God Gives Growth

As Paul stated to the Corinthians, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” (1 Cor. 3:6-7) Thank you God that you are the one who causes the seeds to grow up and bring forth fruit. We praise you for awesome and mighty power to save!

University Closures

Universities across Libya have been closed over the last several months due to a strike by the professors. The pandemic and the effects of the Hafter war on Tripoli have caused many students to be delayed by two academic years.

Father God, we ask for resolutions to be made among the university staff and the ministry of education. We pray for students who are feeling discouraged and hopeless to find peace with you God through Jesus Christ. Let a generation of young people in Libya rise up and call on you Jesus as Lord!

Your Word Doesn’t Return Empty

For as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)

Amen! Yes Lord, we praise you for your faithfulness to your word. Thank you for every word spoken over Libya that comes from you will come to pass in your perfect timing!

Nuqat al Khams District & Zuwara

We pray again for those who have been historically at odds with one another in Nuqat al Khams, the Zuwara Amazigh and the Arabs who inhabit the surrounding area. Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors and pray for our enemies! Let Zuwarans who are searching for truth, including self-proclaimed atheists and agnostics, discover the good news of Jesus, lay down their weapons, and live out the radical command to love their neighbors. And may Arabs from the surrounding areas of Zulten, Al Jumayl, Ajalat, and Rigdalen form kingdom communities which bear the likeness of Christ.

Thank you Father for adopting each one of us into your family. We are no longer orphans, but we are your children and we belong to you. Give each Libyan believer today a reminder that they are part of your family, unconditionally loved and never forgotten.
